Property from a European Private CollectionEglon Hendrik van der NeerAmsterdam 1635/36 - 1703 DüsseldorfA lady at her toiletsigned and dated lower right on the table: E. van der Neer f. 1665oil on canvas, arched top38.5 x 29.9 cm.; 15⅛ x 11¾ in.-歐洲私人收藏埃赫隆・亨德里克・凡・德・尼爾1635/36年生於阿姆斯特丹,1703年卒於杜塞爾多夫《梳妝台旁的女子》款識︰藝術家在右下角桌子上簽名並紀年E. van der Neer f. 1665油彩畫布,拱形頂38.5 x 29.9 公分;15 ⅛ x 11 ¾ 英寸品相: The following condition report is provided by Henry Gentle who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby`s:The painting is lined and there is good adhesion between the original canvas and the lining fabric. The paint layer is stable and secure and in a good preserved condition; texture through passages such as the mirror frame and the pleated sleeve is very well maintained.Fine details through the face and hands are retained and tonal modulation through the folds of the silk dress and the cuff are preserved.Minor thinness through the more thinly painted passages, including the background and the sitter’s shawl have resulted in exposure of the canvas texture.U-V light shows insensitive and excessive mitigation of this thinness. The discoloured varnish obscures the more subtle tonal values through the composition. Loose original brushwork through the curtain and orange tablecloth is retained.Chromatic saturation through the red chair and green curtain are well preserved.Crisp detail through the still life of objects on the table is retained.Original modelling through the skin tones remains, minor fine shrinkage cracking is visible. The painting presents well."In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby`s is merely a subjective, qualified opinion. Prospective buyers should also refer to any Important Notices regarding this sale, which are printed in the Sale Catalogue.NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS PRINTED IN THE SALE CATALOGUE."来源1: Peter Burrell, 1st Lord Gwydyr (1754–1820), Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincolnshire, by 1812;His posthumous sale, London, Christie’s, 8–9 May 1829, lot 63 (as E.
