Description

Property from the Grasset CollectionFloris Claesz. van DijckDelft 1575 – 1651 HaarlemA uitgestald or ‘display piece’ still life of fruit and olives in various blue and white chinese export porcelain bowls, a Siegburg stoneware schnabelkanne, a bekerschroef silver-gilt rummer mount containing a berkemeijer conical rummer, a roemer, an upturned façon-de-Venise beaker with lion mask prunts, a stemmed flute, old and young cheese upon a pewter plate, a knife and various scattered fruits and nuts, all arranged upon a white lace and damask cloth laid over a rose damask cloth covering a tableoil on oak panel74.7 x 114.5 cm.; 29¼x 44¾in.-格拉塞特典藏弗洛利斯・克拉斯・凡・迪科1575年生於代爾夫特,1651年卒於哈勒姆《靜物︰餐桌上盛載水果和橄欖的外銷青花盌、錫格堡炻壺、配銀鎏金杯托的錐腳大酒杯、玻璃大酒杯、飾有獅面鈕的威尼斯式玻璃杯、玻璃笛子、銀盤上的新鮮和熟成芝士、小刀、水果與果仁,鋪玫瑰色錦緞,上覆白色錦緞》油彩橡木畫板74.7 x 114.5 公分;29 ¼ x 44 ¾ 英寸品相: The following condition report is provided by Henry Gentle who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby`s: The oak support is made up of three evenly spaced planks. The two joins have been reinforced, there is slight movement along them, they are slightly stepped and have minor paint loss. The lower plank has a 25cm horizontal hairline fracture. The wood grain runs horizontally and is slightly raised in some areas. The paint layer is stable and secure and many fine and subtle details are intact. Original paint texture and impasted highlights are preserved. Subtle rendering of the objects and the crispness of the paint finish is evident. It is indistinctly signed lower left in the tablecloth. Some thinness to the paint layer in the background has been augmented along with minor loss along the raised wood grain through the tablecloth. Chromatic complexity and integrity are very well retained and tonal subtlety would be improved with the removal of a patchy discoloured varnish."In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby`s is merely a subjective, qualified opinion.
