The panel has been thinned and is now cradled. The grain direction is horizontal. The cradle has 21 fixed horizontal members, and 11 vertical moveable members. There is little movement in these members. The paint and ground layers are stable, and there is no signs of flaking or recent losses. The current presentation of the painting shows a skillful restoration, probably dating from the twentieth century, with only minor corrections undertaken recently. The existing varnish and most recent retouching have not discoloured or degraded to a significant degree. The surface gloss is even and saturating. There is a small amount of a waxy surface dirt on both the front and reverse of the painting."In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
