DELMOTTE 1943', 122.5 x 91.5 cm (ARR) Note: Delmotte was considered to be a realist painter for the first part of his artistic career, influenced by the models of the Italian Renaissance, as well as Rubens and Ingres. The present portrait is of this early period, where the realism and almost sculptural form of the sitter can be seen. By the 1950s he turned towards a more symbolic style creating compositions with surreal landscapes and futuristic architectures.
