Browse of Rowland, Browse & Delbanco. The ballet 'Mardi Gras' was choreographed by Andree Howard to an original score by Leonard Salzedo with the production’s sets and costumes designed by Hugh Stevenson for Sadler’s Wells Theatre Ballet and first performed on 26th November 1946. According to the artist's family, it is possible this sketch was made earlier and Hall misremembered when dating it later.
