John Blackburn, British 1932-2022 - Untitled, 1964; oil on board, signed and dated upper left 'Blackburn 1964', 20 x 25 cm (ARR) Note: In 1961 Blackburn’s works were exhibited alongside Ben Nicholson, Victor Pasmore and Terry Frost in the John Moores’ Liverpool Biennale, he would go onto exhibit at the Woodstock Gallery the following year, where his art was spotted by the influential art collector and gallerist, Jim Ede, who placed his work in Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, alongside Peter Lanyon, William Scott and Roger Hilton. Blackburn's popularity resurged in the early 2000s, where galleries such as Osbourne Samuel held exhibitions of his work.
