Peter Prendergast, Welsh 1946-2007 - Spring, 2000; oil on canvas on board, signed, titled and numbered on the reverse 'Peter Prendergast, Spring 2000 No 3', 25.5 x 34.7 cm (ARR) Provenance: with Grant Fine Art, Newcastle, Northern Ireland Note: Attaining a place at the Slade School on Fine Art, London, in 1964 when he was 17, Prendergast's tutors included Euan Uglow, Michael Andrews and Frank Auerbach, all under the leadership of William Coldstream. Later on in his life he moved to North Wales where he was inspired by the surrounding Snowdonian views, the resulting landscapes were bold and expressionist, and are noted for their vigour and energy, which can be presently seen in the work on offer.
