The eldest son and heir of Thomas Thynne, 2nd Viscount Weymouth and his wife, Louisa (1712?-1736), a daughter of John Carteret, 2nd Earl Granville, he succeeded to the viscountcy upon the death of his father in 1751. In 1759 he was married to Elizabeth (1735-1825), daughter of William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland, by who he had three sons and four daughters.‘On Saturday morning died at his house in Arlington-street, the Most Noble THOMAS THYNNE, Marquis of Bath, Knight of the Garter, Groom of his MAJESTY’S Stole, a Member of the Most Hon.
