A George III carved mahogany bergère, circa 1760-70, in the manner of Thomas Chippendalethe top rail centred with an acanthus clasp and with a foliate tied moulded frame, scrolled padded armrests, with close-nail red leather upholstery and squab cushion, the serpentine presentation seat rail carved with folaite sprays issuing from c-scroll cabouchon, on cabriole legs headed with flowers and ending in boldly scrolled feet品相: In good restored condition and ready to place. Upholstery recently applied and in excellent order. Some consolidated separations to joints of frame as to be expected and one site with residual glue and filler. Some wear to raised carved detail and evidence of former upholstery tack around rails internally and externally. Seat rails with later front blocks and a section of replaced timber to one seat rail, securing dowels and consolidatory resin. One rear leg with repaired break. Old marks, chips, scratches and bruising throughout.
