Himself a Skagen painter, Krøyer depicts a lively afternoon with some of his closest friends, including (left to right): Martha Møller Johansen, Viggo Johansen, Christian Krohg, a self portrait of Krøyer, Degn Brøndum, Michael Ancher, Oscar Björck, Thorvald Niss, Helene Christensen (Krøyer`s paramour), Anna Ancher, and Helga Ancher.
