After Peder Severin Krøyer (Danish, 1851-1909) Hip, Hip, Hurrah! Oil on canvas 30 x 40 inches (76.2 x 101.6 cm) The present work depicts a garden party of the "guild", a group more widely known as the Skagen Painters, Scandinavian artists who formed an artistic community in Skagen, Jutland in the 1880s and 90s. Himself a Skagen painter, Krøyer depicts a lively afternoon with some of his closest friends, including (left to right): Martha Møller Johansen, Viggo Johansen, Christian Krohg, a self portrait of Krøyer, Degn Brøndum, Michael Ancher, Oscar Björck, Thorvald Niss, Helene Christensen (Krøyer`s paramour), Anna Ancher, and Helga Ancher.
