Description A Chinese carved hardwood side tableWith floating panel top, possibly jichimu, over a scroll-carved panel skirt with cloud spandrels, over rectangular legs with side stretchers, shaped and scroll-carved feet.(H: 33 3/4 in. L: 43 1/2 in. D: 14 1/4 in.)Qty: (1)ProvenanceProperty formerly in the collection of Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989), thence by descent.Haon was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and was promoted in 1954 to the Foreign Relations Department as Manager of the European Office, London, England, until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Haon continued to live part-time in London into the late 1970s. It is believed that many of the Asian arts in his collection were acquired during this time in London.Moderate surface wear, scattered chipping to edges, one foot cracked, small filled knot hole to inside of one stretcher, slight losses to fill and lacquer at underside of top frame, some scattered stains/soiling to legs and cloud spandrels, wear to feet, a few hairline cracks along grain, as is typical
