按语:吴定，1744年出生，字子静，号息庵。安徽休宁人。善山水，宗浙江僧，其所绘山水八法五十六幅，摹仿唐宋元明诸大家，于山水浅深、林木疏密及人物、屋宇、舟车悉为图谱，别其用笔，先后次序颇得古法，询为艺苑指南，当不仅宗浙江一家。 吴定是明末清初时期新安画派的佼佼者，在注重古画韵致的同时注重用笔。外师造化，中得心源。笔墨清逸疏简，线条秀骨外拓，意境荒寒冷峻，格调高古沉雄，《枯木竹石图》疏朗的树石，大量线条，凸显枯树的刚劲硬朗，瘦削凝练，这种枯寂的风格，古奇之感顿生。 款识:息庵吴定 钤印:口中人（朱文）
