Ca. 2nd millennium BC.A huge red-coloured pottery vessel featuring a nearly spherical-shaped lower body with a slightly flattened base. From the top of the sphere, a nicely-shaped spout accompanied by a small loop handle protrude. The Amlash culture, also known as Marlik culture, is found in Northern Iran, enduring for many centuries. It was one of the most distinctive Iranian cultures of the late second and early first millennia BC which had cultural contacts with the Assyrian Empire.Size: L:400mm / W:400mm ; 2.84KgProvenance: Property of London Ancient Art gallery; formerly in a private collection, London, acquired in Geneva from Alara gallery in 1990s.
