* TO BE SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE * A CHINESE WUCAI CIRCULAR ‘PEACH’ DISH, MING DYNASTY, TIANQI PERIOD, 1621 – 1627 明天晵 五彩寿桃纹碟 The flaring rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to an everted rim, painted to the interior with branches of fruiting peach, all below swirling clouds and the moon, inscribed with a two line poem, Japanese wood box (2) Diameter: 20.8cm Provenance: Mujintang Collection, purchased in Yokohama, 2013 Exhibited: Robert Bradlow Fine Art, Reflecting Nature, 17th Century Chinese Ceramics for the Japanese Market: Kosometsuke & Koake, Catalogue no.23. Condition Report The dish has a 1.5cm hairline firing crack to the rim, rim fritting to approximately half of the rim, a 4mm diameter area of glaze misfire at 7 o’clock, scattered glaze pin holes and light glaze scratches.
