A Ming pottery table and objects, Late 16th century, China, A model of an altar table with loose dishes of food and a candle holder. Earthenware with sancai glazes of yellow and green. Ming dynasty funerary figures reflected the social status of the deceased. Pottery figures of servants, furniture and food are the most common types. The quantity of grave goods was related to the affluence of the deceased. The wealthier the deceased the larger the number of funerary figures. Table: 23 x 16 cm, H 15.5 cm, A repair to the table's legs (see close-up photo), and general wear from age and being exposed to the ground (excavated objects).
