A wucai kendi with flowering peony and grape pattern, Ming Dynasty, 16th century, China, Probably of Jiajing or early Wanli period, the pattern executed in overglaze iron red and green glaze, showing scrolling lotus on the main body, grapes and vines on the spout and a row of banana leaves on the neck. Not marked. H 18 cm, A hairline crack in the base and some restoration, mostly to the top (visible because the glaze is more shiny there than in other unrestored places). The top (neck) is not straight (manufacturing flaw). Some wear of the pattern from age and use.
