痕都斯坦这一地名是由乾隆皇帝亲自考订的，史称位于印度北部，包括克什米尔及西巴基斯坦。清代纪昀在《阅微草堂笔记》中记述：“今之琢玉之巧，以痕都斯坦为第一。其地即佛经之印度”。此刀柄具有痕都斯坦玉器的雕造特点，玉质细腻，包浆温润柔和，由白玉琢作虎首形，其设计之精美，虽仅存刀柄亦为珍藏把玩之佳器。
