黑财神乃是五方佛之东方金刚不动佛，为利益娑婆众生摆脱穷困所化现。此尊黑财神身青黑色象征以胜义中远离一切遍计所执，即是意金刚自性，为自性净无垢。以不动佛冠为头饰表具不动佛之大悲所幻之意；裸体无遮表大悲，且寓意赤裸无所牵挂，一尘不染，一切无所障碍，冲却了污浊色尘；持颅器表悲心所业；抱灰鼬表满足众生求财之欲愿。
