天鸡尊的造型未见于商周青铜器，最早为洛阳宋墓出土为例，作鸟负尊形，应为宋代对于《周礼》中鸡彝、鸟彝的想象。据今日实物看来，宋、明时期仿古风之盛行，天鸡尊作为崇古情怀之具体念想，才为皇家贵族以文人士大夫所推崇，而制作流行开来。天鸡是瑞兽，天鸡负尊或天鸡负瓶的图案为进宝意，同时，天鸡作为吉祥物，其作用之一就是避邪，它同时也是英雄勇武的象征。仿古为复古，复古为复兴。本品为错金银天鸡尊，是乾隆仿三代青铜之重器，天鸡翘首直立，振翅欲飞，长尾内卷挺立，背负撇口尊，周身错金银饰几何纹图案，纹饰错落，繁密精巧，华丽俊美，古朴盎然，栩栩如生。此件拍品品相完好，是一件难得的仿古珍品。
