歙砚全称歙州砚，中国四大名砚之一，苏东坡评其「涩不留笔，滑不拒墨，瓜肤而谷理，金声而玉德，厚而重，朴而坚」，素为历代文人所喜。歙石的开采约始于唐，至宋代达到鼎盛，元初因砚坑崩塌而停采，直到清乾隆年间才一度恢复，故歙砚存世稀少。歙砚八德中的「坚、润、柔、健、细、腻、洁、美」，以玉德金声和涤之即净为歙砚的主要优点。本品润而不滑，扣之有声，抚之若肤，磨之如锋，宜于发墨。
