金珀，即金黄色的琥珀，以色之深浅分琥珀类别，珀中透明的称为琥珀，不透明的琥珀称为密蜡，黄色系的称为金珀。明谢肇淛于《五杂俎·物部四》有：“琥珀，血珀为上，金珀次之，蜡珀最下”.清初屈大均《广东新语》卷十五载，“琥珀，来自云南者多血珀，来自洋舶者多金珀、蜜蜡、水珀”，可见当时金珀为舶来之物，珍稀更甚金玉。从清宫档案及文人笔记中也可发现，其数量远比琥珀、蜜蜡为少，使用多限于宫廷及高官巨贾。此佩雕琢精细，材质珍贵，为收藏上品。
