Description Henry John Yeend-King (United Kingdom, 1855-1924) oil on canvas townscape painting depicting a bustling marketplace with livestock pens, cages, and produce flanking a cobbled road filled with vendors and shoppers having the dense hamlet, cathedral tower, and distant castle rising above in the background. Signed "Yeend King" lower right. Housed in a giltwood frame with scrolling design upon diapered ground. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 35 1/2" W. Framed: 33" H x 45" W. Note: Henry John Yeend-King was known for his bucolic genre scenes. He studied in both England and France, and was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in Oil-Colors, and exhibited at the Royal Academy in London.
