Charles Marion Russell (America, 1864-1926). A bronze wildlife statue. A lost wax cast in bronze titled, "The Last Laugh," modeled 1916. A figural work depicting a wolf standing upon a landscape form base, looking with irony at a human skull. Inscribed signature C.M. RUSSELL with buffalo skull monogram and year 1916, and having B ZOPPO foundry mark to back of landscape base. The artist, known as Kid Russell and "the Cowboy Artist," was a contemporary of fellow Western American artist Frederic Remington (1861-1909). Presented on a tan marble base, with felt to underside. Work measures 7"x5"x4.25" without base and 6.75"x9"x5" with base.Dimensions: 5 X 9 X 6.75 in.Condition: Good overall condition having normal age related surface wear, and patina.
