A bronze sculpture attributed to Antoine Louis Barye (French, 1795-1875). Titled "Theseus Fighting the Centaur Bianor," cast circa 1867. A Mannerist figural work depicting the Classical Greek hero Theseus in a fight to the death against the mythical creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse. Artist name A.L. BARYE incised in metal at base. A copy of the work is held in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
