A very beautiful Art Deco period papier-mâché round box with a colorful geometric design and black lacquer finish, circa early 20th century, Japan. Marked "Made in Japan" on underside as shown in last image. Piece is hand-stenciled and painted. Colors include: Black, green, light pink, dark pink, yellow, orange, blue-grey, tan/light brown, and touches of gold.
