A delightful pair of antique Karl Ens hand painted porcelain cockatoos, model : 7740 III. The maker's mark indicates it was made in the period 1900 - 1919. Purchased from the estate of a Swiss lady who keenly collected porcelain, especially pieces from the Karl Ens factory. Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens was established in 1899 but it wasn't first porcelain business of the Ens family. Karl Ens (senior) founded in 1860 the Triebner, Ens & Co. In 1899 he left thepany starting a new business, which swiftly gained reputation for producing high quality items. Apany founder had two sons, Karl and Eduard. Karl junior ran the factory from 1919 to 1939. In 1972 thepany was nationalized and became a part of VEB Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur as VEB Unterglasurporzellanfabrik. Size : 20 cm. ( 7 7/8" ) tall, 8.5 cm. ( 3 11/32" ) wide. Weight of the pair : 660 g. (1 Pound, 7.3 Ounces ). Condition :excellent .
