AN IMPERIAL YELLOW-GROUND BLUE-ENAMELED ‘SHOU’ DISH, TONGZHI MARK AND PERIODChina, 1861-1874. The deep rounded sides supported on a short foot and rising to a gently everted rim. The interior finely decorated with six concentric bands of 138 stylized shou characters in blue enamel, encircling a larger central shou character, all reserved on an even Imperial yellow ground. The rim finely gilt. The exterior covered with a transparent glaze and decorated with three evenly spaced floral sprays and scrolling vines in exquisite Famille Rose enamels. The recessed base with an iron-red four-character markTongzhi nianzhi and of the period.Provenance: English trade. By repute from an old estate in northern Scotland.Condition: Magnificent condition with expected minor wear to gilt and enamels as well as few minute firing irregularities.
