A LARGE CAST AND REPOUSSÉ COPPER FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI, QING DYNASTYChina, late 18th to early 19th century. Constructed from several sheets with cast, hammered, chased, and embossed elements. Seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base with his left hand resting on his lap and his right lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, wearing loose-fitting monastic robes with neatly incised foliate hems and shou character decoration. His serene face with heavy-lidded downcast eyes below gently arched brows centered by a coral-inlaid urna, flanked by long pendulous earlobes, the hair in tight spiral curls with a domed ushnisha.
