陈次石，原名才瑊，号汉滨涣者，斋蕉雨山房。是汉中名士陈才芳之弟，陕西宁羌州人，寄居汉中府城南门内孝义坊。光绪初年拔贡，倜傥风雅，敏于谈论。陈次石工书法，遍临东汉诸碑，其中尤对《衡方碑》、《玄儒先生娄寿碑》得其神韵，所临手迹积累盈庭。于秦《权量铭》、《二世诏》，见人原拓，或影印佳品，则借而钩摹，然后临习，尽得其真，纤细不失。旁及《兰亭序》、《圣教序》等皆藏有明拓本。
