本品为白玉质，颜色透白间错微黄如冻。瑞兽状作温顺匍匐状四肢藏于身下有甲，头部微仰贴耳偏向一侧。瑞兽整件圆雕，琢阔距双眼高眉额作天真态，宽鼻微隆，双唇松弛闭合，背部刻画明显，腿部轮廓准确遒劲，以阴线表现其肌肉毛发走向，腰部钻一贯穿圆孔，用以系佩。瑞兽趋吉避凶往往以神煞可怖的形象出现，六朝至唐期间审美重意韵主多样，本玉雕件造型逼真，包浆温润，动静有度，浑然可爱。
