作者简介：胡锡珪（1839-1883），原名文，字三桥，亦字山乔，别号三桥居士、红茵生、盘溪外史，室名盘溪小筑、红茵馆，又自号红茵馆主、红茵馆主人。江苏苏州人。幼起学习绘画，落笔有致，集明清名家之长，人物学华岩，花卉学恽寿平。擅长画仕女，雅秀古艳，近改玉壶，水墨白描尤精雅。40岁起善于用阔笔写意戏剧人物画，倍受画坛推崇，沪苏两地书画爱好者争购其作品，名扬画坛。
