Wood, bone appliqué, iron hinges. Rectangular wooden casket profusely covered with bone appliqués, delicately carved, partly painted in colour. The wooden rims on the inside painted red. The design follows themes of profane minnesong. On the lid depiction of men and women making music, a well and a tree in six cartouches framed by tendrils. The sides finely carved with surrounding depiction of two huntsmen with six dogs and a boar in a stylised forest landscape. The bottom with chessboard pattern. On the sides five loops with rings (one missing). Without key. Traces of age, two corners knocked. Dimensions 7 x 17.5 x 15 cm. A similarly decorated Minnekästchen is on display at the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt. Condition: II
