An antique Gandhara stone plaque. Originally form the region of present NW Pakistan and parts of SE Afghanistan, 1st - 5th Century CE. The upper portion of the central deity is preserved with face, hair, ears and robe all in good detail. Characteristic Hellenistic influence can be observed. Diety is surrounded by animals and figures, all looking towards the sacred figure.At highest: 9 1/2" (24.1 cm), W. 13 1/2" (31.7 cm)Condition: good condition overall with wear and losses to the fragment.
