His style was directly influenced by his teacher Wu Changshuo, and his works often evince the devote nature of his belief in Zen Buddhism. Born on December 4, 1867 in Wuxing, China, he lived most his life in Shanghai where he became a successful businessman and banker. It is believed that Wang’s subjects may have been inspired by the works of 13th and 14th century artists he saw while visiting Japan. He notably enjoyed more popularity in Japan than in his homeland. The artist died in 1938 in Shanghai, China. Today, Wang’s works are held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in British Columbia, among others.品相报告: Over all in EXCELLENT Condition.
