A private collector, US Navy World War II Veteran and served in Naval Aviation in Anti-Submarine Warfare, General Motors management for the overseas parts development program.Measurements: Height: 40 cm Diam: 34 cmChinese Ming Dynasty Period, Wanli Blue & White Cranes & Dragon motif reward Jar. This porcelain jar has an open mouth with a slightly out-turned lip, short neck, large, thick and tall, globular abdomen, heavy on mid, raised on flat round footed base. This jar in red and white fine color, is an excellent object on exterior with Flying Phoenix and imperial dragon above thrashing lishui wavy waves, cumulus cuds, flame vapors, scrolling ruyi and auspicious pattern. Since the dragon and the phoenix usually serve as auspicious symbols, any reported sightings of a dragon or phoenix were considered extremely auspicious, heralding a glorious period of peace and prosperity for the people and the country. The foot base rim reveals the cut edges during the making process left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks.
