Description: A Chinese biscuit porcelain egg-yolk yellow glazed Tianma horse shaped water dropper seated on waves. Unglazed flat bottom with old art deco period collector’s monogram label.
Size: 3 3/4", 9.7cm.
Provenance: From a French collector, acquired in Paris.
Lot Notes:
In the western Shou empire, Tianma referred to a constellation. Tianma is also associated to the Han dynasty emperor Wudi, an admirer of central Asian horses. The bronze statue, Gansu Flying Horse is a well-known example. - Wikipedia
