Age: Qing Dynasty

Description: A large standing figure of Buddha, wearing a flowing robe draped over the shoulder, hands outstretched in a prayer, the face with sympathetic features. The stone is of an even light green tone with a milky texture and infrequent dark inclusions. Probably jade material originally sourced from the Khotan region in northwest China.

Size: 9", 22.80cm.

Provenance: A Montreal collector acquired from "The Chinese Porcelain Company" New York.

Condition Report: A large green jade Buddha believed to be Kotan jade, the sculpture appears to be in very good condition, no evidence of significant damage, there are natural fissures and inclusions in the stone. The stand appears to have been painted or lacquered and the paint or lacquer has been stripped, The stand has two broken areas approximately 1cm to 1.5cm in length of damage along the edge where the statue sits at the base.
