简介：檗道元（1876～1966），名仁明，号谦堂，京都宫津人。曾往来于中国与印度瞻仰佛迹，后入鹿岛普明寺、滋贺正明寺、朝鲜觉心寺。战后入住黄檗山塔头万松院，昭和31年（1956年）继任万福寺第五十二代住持。善书法，其书虚空静寂中隐隐透着清脱疏远之意，似在不经意间娓娓道着禅理，似断还连，倔强而不生硬，字内空间疏朗空灵，笔墨随意枯湿，不循常规。书迹多有流传，常藏禅宗古庙，信众之间。
