Named after the two demons she defeated, Chanda and Munda, the latter's head held in her hand is regarded as her most powerful weapon. Her angular features reveal a grimacing face and menacing smile. She squats victorious over the partially prone demon (pretasana). A closely related example is held in the collection of Bharat Kala Bhawan, Varanasi, (15009). Alsopare with an 18th century illustrated folio with Chamunda as Durga in the Rubin Museum of Art, New York (Pal,Durga, 2009, p. 124, no. 18).
