It was created under the supervision of Lang Tiangji, Governor of Jiangxi and director of the Jingdezhen kilns between 1705 and 1711, who is generally credited with the revival of monochrome glazes, in particular copper-red glazes. They were derived from copper-red wares made during the Xuande period of the Ming dynasty when copper-red wares were perfected to an intense brilliant red tone known asxianhong.
