DINNENDAHL, HANS (1901 Krefeld - 1966 Telgte), sculpture: "Crucifix", iron, dark brown and light brown patinated, signed "Hans Dinnendahl" and dated 1946 on the lower crossbeam and inscribed with the Buderus foundry stamp on the reverse. Body of Christ in the four-nail type and slightly abstracted depiction, the cross beams inscribed all around "Through his dying he destroyed our death and through his resurrection he acquired new life for us". Dinnendahl studied at the Munich School of Applied Arts and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich; in 1933 he was represented at the World's Fair in Chicago; from 1936 sponsored by the Bishop of Münster, Clemens August Graf von Galen; in 1939 destruction of his main work in the Warendorf cemetery by the Nazis; after the warplete decoration of the Episcopal Chapel in Münster. Korpus Christi im Viernageltypus und leicht abstrahierter Darstellung, die Kreuzbalken umlaufend bezeichnet "Durch sein Sterben hat er unseren Tod vernichtet und durch seine Auferstehung neues Leben uns erworben". Dinnendahl studierte an der Münchener Kunstgewerbeschule und an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München; 1933 war er auf der Weltausstellung in Chicago vertreten; ab 1936 gefördert durch den Münsteraner Bischof Clemens August Graf von Galen; 1939 Zerstörung seines Hauptwerkes auf dem Warendorfer Friedhof durch die Nazis; nach dem Krieg Gesamtausstattung der bischöflichen Kapelle in Münster. H. ca. 40,5 x B. 28 x T. 4,5 cm.
