A THANGKA OF MAHAKALA RIDING A TIGER, VYAGHRA-VAHANATibet, 19th century or earlier. Distemper on cloth, mounted to a silk passepartout and framed. Depicting Danda Mahakala in his form as Mahakala Vyaghra Vahana (riding a tiger), shown standing atop a tiger, the fierce face with three large bulging eyes, a mouth baring sharp teeth, and flaming hair, wearing a five-skull crown, holding a vajra and a phurba in his hands. The upper and lower registers with three images of Buddha. Condition: With extensive wear and abrasions, soiling, and losses.
