A SEMI-OFFICIAL EMBROIDERED SILK VEST AND RANK BADGE, LATE QING DYNASTYChina, 19th century. Finely embroidered in satin stitch on black ground with a square pheasant rank badge to the center, flanked by four white pheasants to each corner, below a frontal facing dragon chasing the magical pearl amid scrolling clouds, all above crashing waves and a band of lishui. The bottom of the vest suspending a band of colorful tassels. The interior with light blue silk padding.Provenance: From a North German private collection, acquired prior to 2007. Condition: Some loose threads, traces of wear and use, minimal soiling, crisp colors.
