A LOT WITH TWO SAWANKHALOK CERAMIC ITEMSThailand/ Sawankhalok/ Sukhothai Province - 14th to 16th century. Comprising a covered bowl of compressed globular from, rising from a short ringed foot to a bud finial, the exterior neatly incised with leaves, covered overall in a brown and beige glaze, the foot, underside and rims unglazed revealing the brown body. Together with a figurine of a chicken, molded in a whimsical style and covered in a white glaze, the wings, tail feathers, comb, and wattle glazed blue. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and firing irregularities. The chicken with a small chip to the beak. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
