A CHAM GOLD REPOUSSÉ PECTORALChampa, c. 17th century. The richly decorated pectoral of crescent shape, finely executed in repoussé showing floral, and sun designs as well as a palm tree flanked by two recumbents goats facing each other. Alloy composition analysis: Gold 22 karat. The plaque was tested by the Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Condition: Good condition with some minor bending, tears, few small losses, and traces of age and wear. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
