THREE TRIBAL AFGHAN METAL ORNAMENTS WITH INSETS, c. 1950sAfghanistan, mid-20th century. The group including a pair of ornaments consisting of a circular top piece with hemispherical domes, a triangular piece attached to it through a loop and set with a red glass cabochon, and a row of numerous chain pendants ending in lozenges of sheet silver and arrow-shaped capsules. Together with a single ornament of similar design, the top piece is in this case inset with four turquoise cabochons.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and wear as well as minor dents. Few insets chipped. Provenance: Romy Rey Collection, London. Romy Rey (1938-2020) was born in Zurich, Switzerland, studied in Paris and Geneva, and settled in London in the 1960s. She shared her life with the artist Brian Davies (1942-2014), in London and in Southern France. Romy was an avid traveler and dedicated collector of tribal art.
