本品为玉壶春瓶，器型婀娜，挺然玉立，胎质洁白，通体施胭脂水釉，釉色深凝。玉壶春由唐代寺院之净水瓶演变而来，定型于宋代，也称玉壶先春，早期用于盛酒，后来演变为陈设观赏器，为宋以后历代必烧造之典型器。本品所施胭脂水釉，为康熙新创品种，雍正时烧造最为精致，以后各代均有烧造，因其以黄金为着色剂（0.5-0.6%）亦称金红釉，釉汁细腻，光润匀净，色如胭脂，故而得名，因其用料昂贵，烧成条件严苛，极为珍贵，所以，胭脂水釉均为官窑产品。本器即为光绪时期胭脂水釉精佳之作，极为稀少，极具收藏价值。
