5 Chinese Scholar's Porcelains each decorated in enamels with a Tiger with calligraphic inscription, each except for brush washer with stamped Jingdezhen marks to bases in iron red: a vase, a tubular brush pot, a brush washer, a water pot and a seal paste round box & cover, and fitted with fabric covered display stands inside a fabric covered display & storage box with carrying handle to top. Height of vase 5 1/2 inches (14 cm.). Height of storage / display box 9 1/2 inches (24 cm.). PROVENANCE: A gift from President and Madame Chiang to Colonel (Doctor) & Mrs Charles G Baird (Charles: 1888-1953, Wife Margaret: 1889-1982), Nanking (probably 1945-47) with original printed gift card and typed envelope; to Margaret Read Wallace with note dated Oct 12, 1986 by their daughter Blythe Read (1915-1998).
