A BAMBOO ‘PEACH TREE’ BRUSHPOT, BITONG, LATE MING TO EARLY QING DYNASTY
China, 17th-18th century. Of cylindrical form, well carved in relief and undercut with leafy branches bearing seven peaches as well as bamboo and rockwork. The natural irregularities on natural surface of the bamboo have been cleverly re-worked by the lapidary to imitate the bark of a peach tree. Overall with a magnificent natural patina, grown over a period of several hundred years, and with good intrinsic wear from generations of appreciation and gentle handling.

French trade.

Condition:
Good condition with expected old wear, natural age cracks, minuscule nicks, and light scratches. Over the centuries the wood has developed a distinct ‘honey golden’ color that only bamboo can acquire, and which cannot be imitated.

明末清初桃樹筆筒


中國，十七至十八世紀。圓柱形筆筒，精美浮雕，外壁浮雕桃樹，樹上雕有七個桃子，桃子豐滿壯實，枝葉繁茂，周圍還有竹子和假山。竹子天然表面的經過工匠的雕刻，模仿桃樹的樹皮。筆筒具有獨特的“蜜金色”包漿。

狀況良好，有磨損、自然老化裂紋、微小刻痕和輕微劃痕。幾個世紀以來，竹材已經形成了一種獨特的蜜金色包漿，這種情況只有竹子才有，並且無法模仿。
