A CIZHOU RUSSET-SPLASHED BLACK-GLAZED PILLOW, SONG DYNASTY
China, 11th-12th century. Massively potted in elegant ruyi form, the concave top with a thick black glaze showing an abstract floral design painted in bold russet splashes, and thick drippings from the glaze just above the unglazed base.

Condition:
Good condition with expected old wear and firing irregularities including firing cracks and glaze recesses, the base with minor scratches.
